Statement from the Director

As an artist, I try to synthesize different objectives and points of view in order to reach multiple audiences on multiple levels. My work usually explores psychological and emotional themes, but often through an abusrdist lens. I use unconventional characters that are both familiar and yet out of place in order to make my work more entertaining. I also try to combine this with my passion for education. Working for PBS affiliate stations, I learned about the role and purpose of children's media, and my work tries to combine artistic elements of film with the practical purposes of teaching.
Aesthetically, I work toward creating a realistic world for my viewer, but with a twist on the actual to make it more whimsical. For example, the Honest Abe project is centered around creating media for children that is both meaningful and entertaining. With a subject matter pertaining to education, and being shot with an eye for visual meaning and graphic metaphors, I make films targeted at putting educational and artistic meaning in both text and subtext.
